What does the Polestar 4 have to offer?

Polestar has another new model: the Polestar 4. Where should we place the model in the range and what does it have to offer? Time to dive into the price list!

Polestar gives its models a number instead of a name. Well, more brands do this. However, Polestar lists the models in order of precedence. That causes some confusion. Take the new Polestar 4. It is not a brand new top model, but a model between 2 and 3. How should you position it among other models? Well, among cars like BMW i4, NIO ET5, Volkswagen ID.7 and in terms of performance even Porsche Taycan, to name a few examples.

Performance and specifications Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 certainly delivers on performance. Depending on the version (Single Motor or Dual Motor), you can reach 200 kW (272 hp) to 400 kW (544 hp) and 343 to 686 kW. 100 kilometers per hour is reached in just 7.1 or 3.8 seconds. The maximum speed is always 200 km / h. Both models have a 102 kWh battery pack (94 kWh usable), good for a range of 600 to 560 km.

Price Polestar 4

The starting prices are good and clear with two versions. The Long Range Single Motor is available from 64,800 euros, the Long Range Dual Motor from 72,800 euros.

Standard equipment Polestar 4

What do you get for that money? Some of the highlights: 20-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, panel roof with UV and noise reduction glass, heated exterior mirrors, digital rearview mirror (very useful in the absence of a rear window.. .), which can be converted to electricity. and heated front seats, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.4-inch infotainment screen and a power tailgate. There is also an extensive support package and security systems, too many to mention here. Worth mentioning in particular is ‘pet mode’, when you want/need to leave your pet in the car for a while.

Single Motor and Dual Motor equipment are the same, you just choose the most powerful engine. We Choose One Motor. Let’s be honest: from 0 to 100 in 7.1 seconds is very fast for the Netherlands and then we save 8,000 euros for the additional electric motor.

Exterior decoration

The Polestar 4 is offered in Magnesium gray as standard. For 1,300 euros you can choose from dark gray, black and gray-blue type. White costs an extra 1,600 euros, as does the gold-like color. We choose the latter, if only because that is the only ‘real’ color.

There are also other wheel options, although at Polestar these are among individual options. We can replace the standard 20-inch Aero wheels with 21-inch Sport wheels. It costs an additional 1,800 euros. There are also 21-inch Pro wheels, but for that you have to order the Pro package for 2,000 euros. We stick with standard wheels.

Interior decoration

The interior is covered in black MicroTech synthetic leather as standard. If you want to combine this with a gray interior or if you want white upholstery, there is no additional cost. There is a catch: for all the optional upholstery you have to order the Plus Pack, which costs 5,500 euros. For another 5,000 euros extra, black or white Nappa leather is possible, but you also get ventilated seats with a massage function and integrated speakers. We choose the black MicroTech, but with lighter parts of the interior.

Packages and options

What do you get with the Plus Pack? This includes Harman Kardon Premium Sound, head-up display, LED pixel lights, plenty of interior lighting, additional seat adjustment (also rear), steering wheel heating, rear seat heating, rear touch screen for your climate control, intelligent interior air purification and a charging capacity of 22 kW. So we had looked at this package after all.

The aforementioned Pro Pack only includes larger wheels, as well as gold-colored accents on the seat belts. We also offer a Test Package (1,500 euros) with more operating systems. Finally, there is the Performance Pack (4,500 euros), with 22-inch Performance wheels, sports suspension, Brembo brakes and even more gold-colored accents. The condition is that you also choose the Dual Motor and Plus Pack, so the price increases significantly.

Then there are different options. The first of these is surprising: if you want a charging cable with the car – which seems very important to us – it will cost an extra 200 euros. What? would you like the panoramic roof to be electronically dimming? Transfer an additional 1,900 euros. For 1,000 euros, the body is finished in body color, instead of the bumpers and sills being black parts. Finally, the rear side windows get privacy glass for 500 euros. Of course we will check the charging cable, but we will trust the rest.

Finally, another list of personal options appears. Consider a set of winter tires (3,300 or 3,600 euros, depending on the wheel size), a roll bar (1,400 euros), different types of home charging cables (320 to 420 euros) and accessories such as protective parts, mud beams, roof. racks, snow chains, floor mats, awnings and storage options (40 to 430 euros).
