for less than 33,000 euros, what if it was the best SUV right now?

for less than 33,000 euros, what if it was the best SUV right now?

While we were talking about Kia this week following the presentation of its new sedan, the K4, we took a look at the Korean manufacturer’s range. The brand still offers the Sportage, which easily represents its best seller in France. A success that cannot be denied, helped by the low price and the range of engines available.

Contrary to what one might think, the Kia Sportage has not been available since 2010. If the third generation, which arrived that year, contributed significantly to the success it enjoys today, the Korean SUV has nevertheless been produced since 1994. It is currently in its fifth generation and everything is going well, as it is Kia’s best-selling model. However, we’d expect to see other vehicles arrive before it, with Kia having several models available.

But the Sportage being what it is, namely an SUV, definitely has the wind behind it. Especially since even if it is not the cheapest in the Kia range, it is outselling the competition, in the face of competition whose prices have risen. Add to that a full range of engines and a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty, and you have the perfect recipe!

The interior of the Sportage does not envy the marks of the segment

One of the cheapest in its segment

Obviously, we can be tempted to offer all the loans for its cheap price, since it starts at 32,840 euros. But that would annoy him, because The Sportage has the advantage of being available in hybrid versions (petrol or diesel), simple hybrids, as well as plug-in hybrids. It’s even entitled to a manual gearbox, only on its 160 horsepower MHEV T-GDi version.

Despite the price being much lower than the competition, the equipment is more than enough even at the entry level. The Sportage is equipped from the first trim level with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, digital instruments, a 12.3-inch central screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, signaling or even cruise control.

ENGINE PRICE
MHEV 1.6 T-GDi 160 ch BVM6 From 32,840 euros
MHEV CRDi 136 hp DCT7 From 36,940 euros
Hybrid 1.6 T-GDi 215 ch BVA6 From 39,690 euros
Plug-in hybrid 1.6 T-GDi 252 ch BVA6 From 45,340 euros

Prices shown do not include options, some engines can be combined with all-wheel drive

However, we cannot deny that its price has a significant impact on its success. At less than 33,000 euros in its access version, it is cheaper than some of its competitors, such as the Peugeot 3008 (38,490 euros) or the Volkswagen Tiguan (39,450 euros). Of course, the hybrid and plug-in versions are more expensive, but the Kia Sportage still remains very good in its segment. Not to mention that, unlike others, it benefits from a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty, which assures buyers.
