At the Sebring International Raceway, the Whelen Engineering Cadillac team achieved a decisive victory at the 65th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring. The No. 31 Cadillac DPi-V.R of Pipo Derani, Felipe Nasr, and Mike Conway completed 360 laps and outpaced the competition by more than two minutes.

The trio’s triumph was enabled by a flawless performance from the Whelen Engineering Cadillac squad, who implemented a methodical and meticulous race strategy. The team’s attention to detail was exemplified by their decision to bring Derani in for an extra pit stop just after the two-hour mark. This stop allowed Derani to take advantage of cooler temperatures, resulting in faster lap times and an eventual advantage over their competitors.

Conway, who was behind the wheel for the final stint, drove with confidence, navigating the tricky and technical Sebring circuit with aplomb. His performance was punctuated by a spectacular move in the closing laps, when Conway expertly overtook the No. 10 Cadillac of Acura Team Penske to wrest the lead from them.

Derani, Nasr, and Conway finished the race with a substantial lead, vanquishing the competition and claiming their first victory of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. Their success provides a great deal of encouragement for the team as they look to the upcoming season.

The 65th 12 Hours of Sebring was a test of stamina, endurance, and mechanical prowess, and the Whelen Engineering Cadillac team passed that test with flying colors. The No. 31 squad’s comprehensive victory demonstrates their ability to compete and succeed on the sportscar racing’s greatest stage.
