The Citroen DS3 WRC brought to the world rally success is to be auctioned in Monte Carlo

Keeping the winning car from the world rally championship in the garage and knowing that you can start it to your heart’s content is an opportunity that every motorsport fan would love to indulge in. For those with better funds, a good opportunity comes from RM Sotheby’s which, in the auction of Montecarlo of May 10, will be sold Citroen DS3 WRC of 2011. Estimates on the eve of the vote are between 450 thousand and 700 thousand euros. Ordinary humans can only hope for a lottery win to try to compete in the procurement project.

The model in the catalog is the one with chassis VF7SA5FR8AW554048. It is believed to be one of only 13 species built between 2011 and 2016. Sébastien Ogier achieved four victories in the 2011 WRC, in the challenges of Portugal, Acropolis, Germany and Alsace. The following year, in the hands of Mikko Hirvonen, it took part in four races of the world public championship, taking second place in Argentina and New Zealand. Another seven races were contested between 2015 and 2017, with drivers Stéphane Lefebvre, Khalid Al Qassimi and Quentin Gilbert at the wheel.

With a supercharged 4-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters, the Citroën DS3 WRC had a good character, which was evident in the competitive environment, where the “double chevron” car had no problem standing out, especially with Loeb who, however, he never sat behind the wheel of a model nowstay. Finally, at the end of its career, it underwent a complete overhaul with the Citroen PH Sport. The works were completed in 2019.

Since then, the car has driven only 2,500 km with the new engine, while the gearbox and drive shafts have gone only 622 km. Now this Citroen DS3 WRC offers itself to the lobby of collectors, who will meet in Monte Carlo on May 10 to try to find the precious area. The level of their dispute will determine the purchase price, which may also differ significantly from the previous forecast.
