Fast X star Sung Kang has revealed who he thinks is the best driver in all of Fast & Furious. Kang was part of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift where he played the driver Han Lue. Since then, Han has appeared in many other Fast & Furious films, working alongside other stars such as Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson.
Speaking to Insider, Kang revealed that he thought Walker was the best driver in the Fast & Furious franchise. The actor also gave his opinion on the bad pilot idea of the cast of Fast X. Here is his full statement:
“Big question. I can say the best driver was Paul. Paul Walker was an excellent driver. He was a big motorcycle fan and could always be found at the track. I’d say it’s better. I don’t know who is worse. Everyone has their own skills. When you watch a movie, we all have our worst moments because, at the end of the day, every character wrecks their car every time. So I don’t think any of us – we know how to go fast, but sometimes we have to learn to stop the cars.”
Paul Walker played the lead role of Brian O’Conner in The Fast and the Furious, the film that started the Fast & Furious franchise. He reprized his role as Brian in every film until Furious 7, excluding The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. However, Walker died in a car accident in 2013, leading to the reshoots of Furious 7 which gave Brian, and therefore Walker, closure for good.
The character of Brian, played by Walker, has helped define many iconic moments in the Fast & Furious franchise. From using a Dodge Charger to flip a bus in Fast Five, to helping Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto jump a building in the Lykan Hypersport in Furious 7, Brian has become a key member of the Fast & Furious “family”. Furious. Considering Walker’s closing at the end of Furious 7, it’s clear the late actor has put his heart into the competition.
Brian’s character left a legacy that lives on in Little Brian, Dom’s son, who was named in honor of his uncle. Kang’s comment that Walker was the best pilot confirms the idea of the badass actor and the relationship he had in the business. While Walker’s death was tragic, it is clear that he is still fondly remembered by the cast of Fast X, who will no doubt continue to honor his memory as the Fast Saga comes to a close.
