The new Dacia Duster is finally in the hands of the press and before we bring you a longer and more detailed driving report, we have a few quick observations. What is it like to drive the Duster?
You already know that the new Dacia SUV looks good – modern, sharp and decisive lines show that we are dealing with a car that deserves to be called a car of the 21st century. Although there is still simplification, the Duster stands out on the road. Major changes have taken place inside.

The test route included off-road roads, where cars could be tested for their (very good) qualities. The large ground clearance allows you to drive easily where others may fear.
Inside there is no comparison with the previous generation. Although the plastic is still hard, the design has become more modern. There are more complex shapes, embossments and patterns. The Duster cabin has also benefited greatly from the digital display in front of the driver. We can have a big screen in the middle – and both, left and center, have completely new graphics. The interface, designed with something like open tiles, works quickly and beautifully. The seats are no longer similar to their predecessor, they are still not high-quality seats, but they are certainly not boring and the range of adjustments is large. The interior was very tightly packed. Nothing is angry, nothing is free.
There is a little more space inside than in the previous model. The general impression of the material is as if we are no longer Dacia, it is of the popular level, not of the budget class – at least visually.
One can get the impression, although we will only measure this, that the new Duster is better at sound insulation than its predecessor. You can’t hear the engine inside, the vibrations are well suppressed. The suspension is a good compromise between comfort and road holding, with an advantage towards comfort. It is probably a little smoother than its predecessor, and inconsistencies are filtered out more effectively.

The 4 × 4 drive has more ways to drive than in the previous version, because Duster, unlike most SUVs, cannot leave the pavement. Earth is its element. The first impressions of driving the Duster 4 × 4 were described by French journalists – you can read about it here.

Dacia expects that more than half of the new Duster sales in Poland will be LPG versions. It can be more after more powerful drives appear – up to 150 HP with a combination with 4 × 4 (but still without direct transmission).
