Why the Kia EV9 will soon be thousands of euros less expensive

The Kia EV9 is not for everyone, and its starting price is 67,995 euros. But this year, even more Dutch people will be able to benefit from the abundance of space on board.

That’s because from the Kia EV9 it will soon be thousands of euros more expensive through the introduction of a ‘short range’ version. Although Kia certainly won’t give it such a bad sounding name.

Two versions of the Kia EV9

There are currently two versions of the EV9 on sale in the Netherlands, both with a 99.8 kWh battery. RWD has 204 hp and has a range of 563 km. AWD produces 384 hp and 512 km.

New basic design

For the new base model we assume a 76 kWh battery and a range of 400 km. It seems reasonable to us that the entry level EV9 of the future has the same 204 hp electric motor and RWD.

Vehicle-to-grid testbed

The Netherlands will also be a testing ground for Kia’s V2G system. Those letters and the number stand for vehicle-to-grid, which simply means that the vehicle can supply electricity to the national grid.
