Acura’s mid-size sedan was put out to pasture after 2014 as sedans fell out of favor with buyers who now wanted SUVs and crossovers.
Back in 1995, when the first generation Acura TL arrived in the US, its name stood for “luxury touring” and it was a mid-size sedan with an unusual five-cylinder engine. Year after year, Acura made changes to the TL to keep it fresh and replaced it with a new generation every four or five years or so, using Honda’s underpinnings and Acura’s unique style, details, finishes and features. The second and third generations of the TL used only V6 engines. The 2009-2014 model years of the Acura TL saw the redesign continue to be marketed as the ultimate thrill, never to be replaced, as the industry, and Acura, shifted its focus to crossovers rather than sedans.

2007-2008 Acura TL 3rd Gen (UA6-UA7) Facelift
The third-generation TL went on sale as a 2004 model with a 270-hp 3.2L V6 engine with FWD and a choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. The engine was later downgraded to 258 hp thanks to new SAE testing methods. The Acura TL refresh for model years starting in 2007 added a 286-hp 3.5L V6, also available with both transmissions.
