Carlos Sainz gives hard ‘truth’ in Ferrari battle: “Many teams will want him”

Carlos Sainz he left his teammate behind with a simple move to overtake him during the Japan Grand Prix and thus not only send a ‘message’ to Charles Leclercbut also ‘facts’.

With three podium finishes on three occasions, including a win at the Australian Grand Prix, Sainz is behind Leclerc in the drivers’ standings. That’s because he missed Saudi Arabia after the appendectomy. However, at the circuit he always finishes ahead of the Monegasque.

He was released by Ferrari before the first race of the season and so it was clear before the start of the season that the battle within the Ferrari team was going to be interesting. Pundits were divided on whether Sainz would quietly slip into second place or whether he should own up to the fact that he was dropped. He chose the open end.

The Spaniard added to his growing list of top three results at the Japanese Grand Prix, a race in which he beat Leclerc to finish on the podium. According to Spain’s chief broadcaster Antonio Lobato, it was more than a message to Leclerc.

“Charles drove a great race, we have to admit. But Carlos is stronger and better with Ferrari now. Since childhood, his father always told him that even if he doesn’t win, he must always send. A small ‘message’ He doesn’t send that message anymore. And that is the reward for all his work. Many teams will want him.”
