The fundraising campaign for Wings for Life is coming to an end with a record total of 256,246 euros. ServusTV won with two unique helmets with the signatures of all the Formula 1 and MotoGP pilots.
Two exclusive helmets, which had the autographs of all MotoGP and Formula 1 drivers, were accompanied by ServusTV presenters Alina Marzi and Andrea Schlager during the live broadcasts of the first two motorsport classes this year. The articles have now been hacked in a fundraising campaign for the “Wings for Life” foundation.
The non-profit foundation for spinal cord research has set itself a major goal. He wants to find a cure for paralysis to change the lives of millions of affected people around the world. To this end, “Wings for Life” collects donations and supports the best researchers around the world. 324 promising projects and clinical studies have already been funded in the 20-year history of the institute.
12,840 supporters and sports fans responded to the call to support spinal cord research through donations. The total amount of 256,246 euros represents a new high for digital donation campaigns on behalf of “Wings for Life”.
Unlike regular charity auctions, in the ServusTV helmet program every participant had a chance to win, because every donation was also a lottery ticket. The winner from Hartmannsdorf in Saxony can expect a MotoGP helmet christened for World Cup use, while the lucky winner of the Formula 1 head protection comes from Kindberg in Styria.
