Woman arrested over death of father whose body was found rolled up in carpet in Louisiana

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a female suspect in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered rolled up in a carpet in Louisiana.

The deceased, identified as 65-year-old John Michael Regan Jr., was discovered in a vacant lot in the city of Opelousas on Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office has since taken into custody the suspect, who has been identified as Regan’s daughter, 32-year-old Kaitlyn Elizabeth Regan. A spokesperson for the law enforcement agency stated that the cause of death is being investigated and that an autopsy is pending.

The investigation into the death of Regan Jr. was initiated after a citizen reported seeing a carpet in the deserted lot. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the deceased’s body within the rolled-up carpet.

Regan Jr.’s daughter has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail where she is being held on a charge of second-degree murder.
