Alvaro Bautista has completed the two-day WorldSBK Trial at the Misano Marco Simoncelli World Circuit with the fastest time to his name. The Spaniard was faster ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu and Ducati team-mate Michael Ruben Rinaldi.
The two days (Thursday and Friday) of the Misano Marco Simoncelli World Circuit were dominated by the WorldSBK-supported Test. Most of the WorldSBK field had traveled to the circuit where the next round of the 2023 FIM Superbike World Championship season will take place in early June.
The surprise was the last minute cancellation of the Kawasaki WorldSBK Racing Team by Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes. The team chose to schedule an additional test at Jerez in the near future and chose it instead of this two-day test at Misano due to the limited number of test days. However, it was decided to participate in this test with the test driver Florian Marino, because a large number of test days are not used for the test driver.
On Thursday, testing can be done under better conditions, while Friday started the second day on the rainy track. The fastest lap time was set on the first day and it came with a lap time of 1’33.305 by reigning world champion Alvaro Bautista. At this time, the Ducati driver was not less than 0.510 seconds faster than Toprak Razgatlioglu, who finished the test as the second fastest driver.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi set the third lap time ahead of Xavie Vierge and Garrett Gerloff who became the best BMW driver in fifth place.
Axel Bassani closed the test with a sixth lap ahead of Andrea Locatelli, Tom Sykes making a temporary return to BMW, Iker Lecuona and Scott Redding completing the top ten.
