Wülfrath: BMW plows into a traffic island – suspected of drunkenness | Regional


Wuelfrath (NRW) – Car on the roof, strong smell of alcohol inside: The driver (40) was lucky that he survived this accident.

Around 3 am on Friday morning, the man was driving his BMW from downtown Wülfrath (district Mettmann) towards Velbert. According to his own statements, he lost control of his car while entering the Hammerstein circuit.

He first hit the edge of the center island and threw himself onto the green. Then he landed on the road again for a short time, sped through the green bushes and the sidewalks to the station of the embankment, where he rolled over and stopped.

Wülfrather had to be extricated from the accident and taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the police, there is no danger to life. A blood sample was taken from him on suspicion of drunkenness and criminal proceedings were opened.

Police: “The completely damaged BMW was seized by the police and recovered and transported by the requested company. The total damage to the car and the circuit is estimated to be at least 15,000 euros.
