The Automotive Design Award, presented to BMW for the Vision Neue Klasse project, Volvo for the EX30 and Kia for its Brand design language.

The 2024 edition of the Automotive Design Awards closed with the presentation of the award to the representatives of BMW, given to the project Vision Neue Klasse (Concept car category), to Volvo for the EX30 and to Kia for its Brand design language ‘Oscar’ of international automotive design created in 1984 by Auto&Design magazine initiative. After the initial phase dedicated to the selection and voting by the jury consisting of journalists Paulo Campo Grande (signed by Quatro Rodas), Jun Miao (MJ CarShow), Kibeom Kim (Roadtest), Luca Ciferri (Car News Europe), Stéphane Meunier (L’Automobile Magazine), Michael Köckritz (Publisher), Tetsuya Kato (Gari Graphic), Dhruv Behl (AutoX), Silvia Baruffaldi (Auto&Design), Andy Franklin (Top Gear) and Juan Carlos Payo Calderon (Mobilitas Group), that day of Wednesday 17 April 2024 the premises of the Adi Design Museum in Milan hosted the final event.

The end of the conflict between Rossella Guasco, Vice President C&M Design Stellantis Europe, Francesca Sangalli, Head of Color&Trim and Concept&Strategy Seat Cupra, Stefano Piontini, Partner at Vudafieri Saverino Partners Shanghai and Carlo Ammirati, Director of Sustainability and Creative Manager Alcantara, the protagonists of the conversation entitled “Living in car” , the promoters of the program gave gifts. In the Concept car segment, the BMW design team, with the Vision Neue Klasse project, took first place ahead of Mazda for the Iconic SP and Mercedes-Benz for the Vision One-Eleven. “It’s never easy to reinvent a brand’s design language, but the BMW Vision Neue Klasse does it in a very modern way, while maintaining the style elements that make up the brand’s heritage. In the increasingly homogenous design of electric vehicles, a tribute to the days of past and a vision of the future” is the motivation addressed to the heirs of Genesis.

For the Production Vehicle segment, Volvo’s design team for the EX30 preceded, in the jury’s choice, the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and Lamborghini for the Revuelto. “For Volvo, small is very good – we read in motivation – The exterior of the EX30 is perfectly achieved and the interior is very spacious. A small SUV with a strong sense of luxury, characterized by the usual Volvo design language: simple, ecological , practical, but also able to bring a sense of freshness with its characteristic Scandinavian design, albeit new.” Finally, for the Brand Design Language section, that is, the award for the design language of the entire brand, recognition was given to the Kia team, while in second and third place we find Toyota and BMW respectively. “With the philosophy of Opposition United, Kia design has taken a subtle approach with the aim of bringing about change, without fear of taking risks. Unexpected at first sight, the new Kia models break the mold of unified aesthetic parameters to establish a formal modern language and completely new. The constant innovation of creating a new identity.”
