You can only buy this Jaguar E-Type restomod as a pair

Jaguar’s creative boss, Gerry McGovern, recently offered words of encouragement to his colleagues. From now on, Jaguar must be ‘a copy of nothing’ and the brand must ‘not try to make a pastiche of the past’. What is Jaguar’s first product in the whole new world of electric cars? Jaguar E-Type restomod with 3.8-liter inline-six.

Jaguar offers fourteen of these E-Types under the ‘ZP collection’. Important information: the fourteen cars are divided into seven pairs. So you can only buy a car if you buy another car with it. You also get one with a roof and one without a roof, while the original ZP racers were all roofless. But hey, for 1.1 million euros for two cars together you can expect something.

Inspired by winners

Apparently each car takes 2,000 hours to build. That’s 83 days of non-stop work and you’re not done yet. The variable blue color celebrates Graham Hill’s victory at Oulton Park in 1961. The silver with a fixed roof is inspired by Roy Salvadori’s victory at Crystal Palace in the same year. The E-Type took this victory just a few months after it was announced.

Both cars get white foam on the hood and doors and white lips. There are also chrome bumpers and wire wheels. Inside there’s an old-fashioned wooden steering wheel, but there’s also room for modern goodies like DAB radio, Bluetooth and a navigation system. The six-cylinder 3.8 that we have already mentioned produces 265 hp. That power goes through a new five-speed manual gearbox that is likely to be easier to operate than the shifter in the original E-Types.
