BMW Group and Tata Technologies will form a joint venture to develop automotive software. This refers to software defined vehicle (SDV) solutions for BMWs. These make, among other things, (partially) autonomous driving possible. The two companies report this.

In the car program, the focus will be on automatic driving, infotainment and digital services, writes BMW. But it is also about digitalization and automation of product development, production and sales. Indian Tata developers are used for its development.

BMW and Tata Technologies will each have a 50 percent stake in the joint venture. The company starts with a hundred employees and should soon grow to more than a thousand people. The company will be based in India.

Tata Technologies is part of Tata Motors. Jaguar Land-Rover also belongs to that group. Tata Motors is part of the Tata Group, which also includes Tata Steel, owner of Hoogovens in IJmuiden. In 2022, all Tata Group companies together had 922,000 employees.
