2.5 million euros is not enough for Koenigsegg Regera

This custom-built Koenigsegg Regera had to command a good amount of money.

Cars have time to come and go, at least most of them. For example, you can spend three million euros on a special car and be done with it after a few years. That happened to this Koenigsegg Regera.

If a cheap car is your thing, you shouldn’t be at Christian von Koenigsegg anyway. The Swedish automaker only builds ‘megacars’, which they believe are the next step up from hypercars. Koenigsegg belongs to any class of fastest cars in the world. The Regera was the fattest and fastest Koenigsegg from 2016 and the first Koenigsegg with hybrid equipment on board. The 5.0 liter V8 produces 1,500 hp and the car has a very special gearbox. And of course the top speed of more than 400 km/h, is definitely the pinnacle of what you can do with the car.

Measurements

A total of 80 Regera units were built between 2016 and 2022. The late 2021 model is now on sale. Indeed, just two years after giving birth. And it is a special example. We can’t help but find the color Blue Candy beautiful, it’s a chosen variation. That is gold. And no, not gold paint, real gold. Different wheels and accents have gold leaf. You can find that everywhere, even under the hood. The Spirit Package (additional carbon fiber aerodynamic parts) was also an expensive option.

Auction

As mentioned, the owner was allowed to collect the keys to this special Koenigsegg Regera in 2021 and now in 2023 it was auctioned at Bring Trailer, after only 615 miles (990 km). The new price was $ 3,277,626 (more than 3 million euros), but these types of cars hold their value. At least, that’s what the owner thinks. The car was not sold, although a large sum was offered. The counter stood at $2,740,000. That was not enough to meet the reserve and so no plan was made.
