850-hp upgraded BMW M3 vs. 860-hp Ford Mustang GT!

All of them have received a significant performance boost through patches and software improvements. But which of the two is faster in the quarter mile and in the sprint? The Ford Mustang has a 5.0-liter V8 engine with a new supercharger that increases performance to 860 hp and 902 Nm of torque. The car has a six-speed manual gearbox and weighs 1,720 kg. On the other hand, there is the M3, with a 3.0-liter inline-six and a single turbo that is supposed to produce up to 950hp and 1,100Nm of torque, but it has been throttled for the competition if not racing on a groomed track. With a seven-speed automatic transmission, the M3 weighs approximately 1,595 kg.

The two cars appeared in several from the YouTube channel car wow organized races against each other. The Mustang won the first two races while the BMW struggled to put more power on the road. Ford was sometimes able to get a clear lead that BMW could not. In the following race, however, the gap narrowed and the BMW was able to overtake the Mustang in the final race.

Despite this, the Ford achieved a quarter-mile sprint time of 11.5 seconds, while the BMW needed 11.7 seconds. In the race without a standing start, the BMW had the edge. Once he picked up speed, he was able to pull away from the Mustang. He also won the brake test. The comparison shows the great potential of both cars when optimized by tuning experts. However, it also becomes clear how important gravity is in converting available power into speed.
