A husband and wife bid for two unique Bugattis in the world

And that’s what happened to this couple: the woman’s husband, who is also a Bugatti fan, was so impressed by the car that he had completely hand-painted by the designers of Bugatti Sur Mesure, that he requested a similar car for his already delivered car. Bugatti exclusivity

Each Bugatti is unique, like its owner. But for some customers the design they choose for their car is not final: Tastes may change, or new ideas may arise, sparking creativity at any moment. It doesn’t matter if the customer has owned the car for a day or a decade, there is always an opportunity to give it a new personality later. And that’s what happened with the latest creation commissioned by the Sur Mesure team.

The story revolves around two Bugatti enthusiasts, a husband and wife, who together decided to celebrate their passion for the brand by buying a Chiron Super Sport. The husband’s car was released first, so the man had the opportunity to see his wife’s supercar come to life thanks to the Bugatti Sur Mesure team.

Working side by side with Jascha Straub, Chief Designer of Sur Mesure, the client’s wish was to reinterpret the design of the timeless Veyron L’Or Blanc. The woman fell in love with the combination of red – Rosso Efesto – and bright orange – Arancia Mira – chosen to create his hand-painted masterpiece in a style that has come to be known as “Vagues de Lumière,” for the way it mimics rays of light. This motif, just like on L’Or Blanc, inspired the creativity of Bugatti owners, who each applied their own unique touch, redefining the design in personal ways.

The process of creation

Amazing color scheme, which takes weeks, starting with the creation of 2D shapes representing the lines running on the car, which must be applied to the 3D surfaces of the car itself, with millimeter perfection. Every millimeter of painted lines is carefully drawn by hand, layer by layer, with different colors, in this case orange.

If the line does not fully meet the designer’s intentions, the correction tape is placed over the original until the shape is completely perfect. This process is repeated until each line has the correct flow and character. After completion, the paint is applied with several layers of clearcoat. The resulting color work, which is confusing bright red and vibrant orange, It seems to glow with energy, perfectly reflecting the name chosen by the customer for this car: “The Aura”.

Jascha Straub explained: “The Vagues de Lumière effect is not new to Bugatti, but each customer has their own wishes on how it should look, and Each model requires a different function. We always work truly from scratch to ensure absolute perfection. The real beauty of these cars also lies in their uniqueness: each painter has a different style, so each car is completely unique. I saw this car for the first time recently in the hot California sun and people couldn’t believe their eyes. What we created is a truly inspiring image“.

Chiron Super Sport inspires another creature

That exciting effect, which gave the inspiration to create another unique Sur Mesure project. In fact, while looking at the change in the design of his wife’s car, the husband was so impressed, he even decided to change his car to match the woman. An exciting new project for Bugatti’s customer service team.

So the man asked to ship his Chiron Super Sport to Tennessee to the customer service workshop at Bugatti headquarters in Molsheim to begin. a profound transformation that took seven months, useful for modifying it to the new design you want.

The team at Bugatti Sur Mesure completely transformed the new car by modifying the exposed carbon fiber finish, with elegant lines. black shade covered with light etched lines in French Racing Blue. A work that took several months to prepare. The bonnet, the roof, the engine cover and the rear wing made of carbon fiber had to be changed, the original blue lines had to be completely removed from the body.

It was also requested new Sky View roof, meaning that the entire original roof panel had to be removed from the monocoque structure. All this can be done only after removing each piece of the interior to ensure that it was not affected by the fine dust created during the process. The end result should not look like just a modified one, but that of a completely new car with the same level of attention to detail and quality standards applied to every car that leaves Molsheim.

What the new creature is like

Once the bodywork was fully prepared, the team could begin the process of applying the stripes, with unique P2 shapes in a contrasting French Racing Blue color. These cutouts are so complex that at this point one person worked alone on this project for four weeks, thinking about the design chosen so that it would fit the car perfectly. Blue paint was then applied by hand in multiple layers to create these flowing lines and rendering illusion of light reflections on the black body.

Although this Chiron Super Sport is inspired by his wife’s car, no two cars are exactly alike, each of the couple’s two supercars is full of its own personality and the artistic skill of the designer who created the lines and the craftsman who gave birth. Finally the car has been given a clean coat with precision and attention to detail and the play of light.

The name given to this model is “Thunder”, and refers to the blue lines painted on carbon black that resemble lightning in the night sky. Bespoke door panels, with a unique design inspired by “Vagues de Lumiere”, were also made and hand stitched.
