Aston Martin updates the DBX

The super-SUV war continues. While waiting for an answer from Ferrari and its Purosangue, Lamborghini has released the Urus SE which, with the help of a plug-in hybrid, has regained the lead in power (800HP) and top speed (312 km/h).

The Aston Martin DBX707 was introduced in 2022 and the aesthetic does not change, only with a selection of new exterior colors (Epsilon Black, Helios Yellow, Sprint Green, Malachite Green, Aura Green and Podium Green), door handles that light up over time. the car is unlocked, new mirrors with integrated cameras and new finishes with optional 23-inch forged alloy wheels.

Chic, modern game

Aston Martin has highlighted updates to the interior of the DBX707 with new infotainment, recently introduced on the new DB12 and Vantage, featuring the latest connectivity features including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and multiple USB-C wireless ports. The old stock Mercedes system gives way to a more modern 10.25-inch “Pure Black” touchscreen, as well as a large 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

In addition to the new screen, the dashboard and center console have been redesigned, bringing the DBX707 more in line with the rest of the Aston Martin range, with individual controls for gear selection, driving modes, climate functions, suspension, ESP, exhaust . and ADAS. Driving is made easier with a new toggle switch for drive mode instead of multiple buttons.

The interior has been further refined, with increased use of contrasting chrome materials, modern veneers and a simplified dashboard to find the right balance between sports car ambience and modern luxury.

Every area of the interior has been improved, from the new steering wheel to the D-shaped door handles and vertical air vents, all of which are now matched with bright or dark chrome interior accents. The new front door veneer panels are larger and available in a variety of new materials, including Gloss Smoked Oak, Gloss Titanium Mesh, and updated Ziricote Wood, Piano Black, and Carbon Fiber veneers.

There are three dimensions of interior decoration, each with its own signature detail; Inspire Comfort includes dot-matrix embroidery and quilting; The Inspire Sport features vector embroidery and Accelerate Alcantara for an extra sporty element. Additional details come in the form of small piping and satin embroidery. And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities for further customization through Aston Martin’s bespoke service, Q and Aston Martin.

707 is enough

Aston Martin’s decision to offer only one powertrain option in the DBX has to do with sales figures. Autocar reports that the DBX707 accounted for two-thirds of DBX sales in 2023, and 90% so far in 2024, effectively rendering the rest of the range irrelevant. The margins will only get better!

Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 707 HP and 900 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox and a rear all-wheel drive system. With a top speed of 310 km/h, the DBX707 is hot on the heels of the Lamborghini Urus SE.

The chassis hardware remains unchanged (including air suspension and standard carbon-ceramic brakes), but Aston Martin engineers reworked the electronic fluids and air springs, allowing for more precise body control.

Production and deliveries of the updated DBX707 will begin in the second quarter of 2024.
