Autozine – News: Mercedes-Benz introduces the G580

Four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels provide a maximum power of 432 kW. Together with adjustable ground clearance, it enables exceptional driving characteristics and exceptional performance. For example, the G-TURN function can turn the car in place on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function can provide a smaller turning circle off-road. Thanks to the smart off-road crawling function and three speeds, the new electric G-Class offers a good drive from the overgrown track independently.

Like the already known variants, the new Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ technology is capable of climbing up to 100% on suitable surfaces. The vehicle remains stable up to a slope angle of 35 degrees. With a maximum wave depth of 850 mm, the electric G’Class exceeds its standard steamers by 150 mm. infection. The new model actually offers the performance of standard slip differentials using intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR offers a unique audio experience in the new electronic G-Class.

Appearance

The new electric G-Class is immediately recognizable as a member of the classic model series. The exterior gets a sleek electric look with the optional Black Panel grille. A number of special features distinguish the all-electric variant from conventionally powered models. This includes a slightly raised bonnet, so-called ‘air curtains’ on the rear wheel arches and a design box at the rear. In combination with the new trim of the A-pillar and the spoiler edge on the roof, it contributes to improving aerodynamics.

Equipment

The G580 with EQ technology is fitted as standard with the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, ambient lighting and a multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather. Optional options include KEYLESS GO, cooled/heated cup holders, Burmester 3D sound system and ‘transparent bonnet’. An updated off-road control unit and a new OFFROAD COCKPIT are available as options. At launch, the FIRST EDITION is available, a special limited edition with many standard equipment and unique design features.

The Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology will soon be available as a FIRST EDITION, with a suggested retail price from €200,303.
