What purpose?

What does BMW gain from this partnership? After all, the manufacturer from Munich already has a lot of experience with electric cars, from the i3 to the i4, i5 and the latest iX3. But do not forget that development of electric vehicles it is very expensive and requires a lot of resources. So it is not unusual for companies to join forces to reduce costs and avoid their own risk profit weaken. We also see this in Honda and Sony, Volkswagen and Microsoft, and Geely and Baidu in China.

In a press release, BMW says that “the results will be used in a range of future BMW Group products”. The main goal is high voltage batteries to work and thus to do research in self-development cylindrical cells, which would provide 30% more energy. Missing the mark in this area can have dire consequences.

BMW notes that this partnership no one way traffic it becomes The German manufacturer “shares its expertise electrical drive systems, acquired over fifteen years”. The two companies have promised to provide more information about the contents of this contract soon. Another new collaboration, and certainly not the last.
