  • Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon: temporary cessation of sales

General Motors (GM) has ordered a temporary suspension of sales of its 2024 Chevrolet Colorado and 2024 GMC Canyon midsize trucks due to software problems.

The Detroit Free Press reported the news yesterday. The latter had noticed a little earlier that the models were gathering in the courtyard of the GM plant in Wentzville, before the shipment. Now we know why.

It is important to note that the company did not release the media and the cause of the problem. What happens next remains speculative.

In fact, what is circulating as news is that the problem seems similar to the one discovered with the new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV at the end of December. In some cases, cars are paralyzed due to problems with the multimedia system. You should know that the latter controls the number of functions of the car, which means that in the event of a problem, the number of things that can stop working becomes amazing.

We were also surprised to see, during the test in Colorado last December, that in order to activate the lights, it is necessary to go through the screen of the multimedia system. A software problem can, for example, make it impossible to turn on the headlights and lights.

I’m the opposite.

A car tested by Edmunds Group produced the “longest list of major defects” the organization has ever seen.

It’s worrying.

Some models have already been shipped to retailers and will remain temporarily until they are repaired and the stop-sale order is lifted.

In all likelihood, GM will continue to hold the image at its Missouri production plant until the software updates are complete.

GM did not provide a timetable for updating the software or resuming sales and deliveries to customers.

We will have to see exactly what kind of problem these cars have and what solution the company plans to take.
