‘Fiat Chrysler would disrupt research on production’

Fiat Chrysler would try to obstruct the investigation into the fraud, according to the French newspaper Le Monde. The manufacturer is under investigation because deviations have been found in the delivery of its diesel models.

After the diesel scandal at Volkswagen, the DGCCRF, the French competition authority, began investigating diesel emissions discrepancies. The organization eventually found suspicious results in Volkswagen, Renault, PSA and Fiat Chrysler, among others, and contacted the French justice system.

A restriction

Le Monde says it has a letter from the right to Fiat Chrysler accusing the carmaker of obstruction. Volkswagen, Renault and PSA are said to be cooperating in the investigation. The DGCCRF is also said to have looked at emissions from Opel and Mercedes-Benz diesels. The organization did not find any defects there.

Multijet

Fiat Chrysler is looking at the 1.6 and 2.0 Multijet II engines from the Fiat 500X, the 1.3-liter turbo diesel from the Fiat Doblo and the 2.0-liter turbo diesel from the Jeep Cherokee. According to DGCCRF, they could provide more than during laboratory tests. Fiat Chrysler says it is cooperating fully with all investigations.
