Hyundai’s Mobion concept mocks the GMC Hummer EV

Hyundai Mobis, a division of the Korean giant specializing in mobility solutions, unveiled at CES 2024 in Las Vegas an electric car concept called Mobion using the new generation of the e-Corner system.

the one which we told you in April 2023it allows the four wheels to rotate up to an angle of 90 degrees and therefore the car moves not only diagonally but also laterally, or even make a U-turn on the spot – enough to make the car jealous. GMC Hummer EV and its “Crab Walk” mode.

The Mobion wheels are individually controlled (acceleration, braking, steering and suspension) and each has four small motors. So they can produce their own energy independently.

Concept, according to a Hyundai IONIQ 5, also attracted attention at CES with its sensor and light technology for autonomous driving. It has two short-range LiDARs placed near the left and right headlights, supported by a long-range LiDAR placed in the center of the front of the car. This configuration proves useful for lateral movements and good detection of nearby objects.

In addition, the ground projection technology shows the direction of the vehicle’s movement. It works over 360 degrees and can even create pedestrian crossings when detected.

Hyundai Mobis conducted road tests in 2023 to test the driving capabilities of the e-Corner system, which was very successful. “Mobion incorporates the core technologies of Hyundai Mobis, all ready for rapid production,” Vice President of Advanced Engineering Lee Seung-Hwan said at CES.

Who can not wait to try?
