Guanyu Zhou has rarely felt as good about a round as he did in Mexico
“First the gear got stuck when I wanted to practice starting in the pit,” says the Chinese about Friday’s practice. “We were able to fix that at the end of the session. In FT2 the engine overheated and in the end I had a problem with the hydraulics. I had to shut down to avoid any major problems.”
On the positive side: “The speed of one lap was not bad for the first time. But we still have enough room to improve. Me too, when it comes to driving,” says Zhou. “I hope things go well on Saturday because it is very important to have a good weekend in terms of the Constructors’ Championship.”
Alfa Romeo is currently in sixth place, 86 points behind McLaren, but only three points ahead of Aston Martin, 16 points ahead of Haas and 17 ahead of AlphaTauri. So far, Bottas has been the best point seller for the Swiss team. He has 46 points out of 52. Zhou has only scored six points so far.
“The car,” Finn said after Friday’s practice, “felt good. Even before the weekend, I expected that the track here could be good for us, and so far it’s going very well. The feeling is good, the lap times are good. – and they’re getting out of hand mine very easily. That bodes well for qualifying and racing.”
