Infiniti is keeping the QX65 name | Car news

• Infiniti reserves the QX65 name for authority.

• Last March, dealers received assurances that a new model would be available soon.

• A possible QX65 could offer a two-row seating configuration to offer itself as an alternative to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The reservation of car names and authorities does not always mean anything. Sometimes the manufacturer is just careful and makes sure to keep the name so it doesn’t end up in the hands of a competitor.

Sometimes it’s more obvious that the manufacturer is onto something. This is the case with a recent request made by Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury brand. This time, it is the name QX65 that was registered by the US Patent and Trademark Office on December 22.

It was the website CarBuzz that discovered this. And because the manufacturer already offers the QX55, which is the coupe version of the QX50, we can easily guess that the brand wants to offer a different variant and model of the QX60 that was updated last year.

Rumors were already swirling about the arrival of a hybrid variant of this SUV. It reported that dealers, who are always open to receiving new products, can rely on the two-row version of the QX60. The model would allow the brand to offer an alternative solution to those buying the BMW X6 or the coupe variant of the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Infiniti has not been the most active company in recent years, but that may change in the coming months, first with this car, then with the first electric model that would be launched in 2025. The redesigned QX80 may also reach us in more or less of the near future.
