Kia K4 5DR is the next generation Ceed

South Korea’s Kia is at the center of a model attack. Because almost everything from the Picanto to the EV9 will be new soon. In the case of the EV9, this is understandable – after all, it is a new model – but the Ceed will also have to go under the knife. Considering Kia only kept the previous generations of the Ceed in production for six years and the current generation is also six years old, a successor is undoubtedly waiting in the wings. Besides, we probably already know him!

From Q4 to CEED?

In North America, Kia has launched the K4, a new C-segmenter that comes as a casually designed sedan and a tasteful five-door hatchback. So it’s likely that the K4 5DR will find its way to Europe as the next-generation Ceed. It is not yet clear whether the name change will also take place during the crossover.

The American K4 already has future and lower lines. The hood is low and long and the lights extend down. We dare not call it conventional beauty, but rather a future alternative to, say, a Volkswagen Golf or an Opel Astra.

Because that’s where it is of course. This K4 does not pretend to be an electric car in any way. This is a “classic” hatchback with combustion engines. On the American market it will be immediately with a turbo gasoline 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 hp. Expect the best engine on European soil. Currently you can also get the Ceed in Europe with a 1-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline with 100 hp or 126 hp, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 160 hp and even a 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel with 136 hp. There is also a plug-in, although the chance that it will also come to this K4 seems slim.

It is not entirely clear when we will see this “new Ceed” in Europe. Although it is a sign that Kia currently only sells the Ceed from “stock”. Which means we won’t have to wait any longer.
