Green-hearted people can now also choose a Lamborghini

Lamborghini isn’t exactly known as a green car brand, but now it has an option for emissions-conscious customers. Lamborghini Urus – the Italian bestseller – is now also available with an electric motor. And a big V8.

The new Lamborghini Urus SE has its own 4.0-liter V8, but the powertrain gets help from an electric motor integrated into the gearbox. Together, the power train produces an insane 789 hp and 950 Nm of torque.

That’s also more than the 657 hp and 850 Nm of torque that the Urus Performante – the most powerful petrol model – offers. The plug-in hybrid Urus sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The SUV has already reached 200 in 11.4 seconds, and the acceleration party only stops at 312 km / h.

Electrical specifications Urus SE

Under the floor of the Lamborghini Urus SE is a 25.7 kWh battery pack. This means that the super SUV can drive up to more than 60 kilometers on electricity alone. Unless you drive more than 130 kilometers per hour. If you exceed this limit, V8 will automatically kick in. You can also adjust how the Urus uses its power through 4 new driving modes: EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance and Recharge.

It mentions about the maximum loading capacity Lamborghini not a word, but given Revuelto’s loading capacity, we shouldn’t expect miracles in that area. The first plug-in combination of the brand can only charge with a maximum of 7 kW. On the list of tests Porsche Cayenne E-hybrid – another hybrid sports hybrid SUV from the Volkswagen group – we see a charging capacity of up to 7.75 kW. There is a good chance that the Urus SE will also achieve this; certainly nothing to brag about shouting from the rooftops.

Urus SE: 80 percent limited production

The Italians proudly report that the new powertrain ensures savings of no less than 80 percent compared to the Urus with only a combustion engine. We are curious to know how much will be left when the new emission rules come into force in Europe from January 1, 2025. At the Euro 6e bis standard, the emissions of plug-in hybrids are calculated in a way that is close to reality.

The thin appearance changes

Lamborghini has used the arrival of the new powertrain to give the Urus some subtle exterior changes. For example, the updated LED headlights now have a signature daytime running light that Lamborghini says resembles a bull’s tail. A slight modification of the front is led by Revuelto. Lamborghini claims that the Gallardo was designed for the rear. Thanks in part to a new diffuser and spoiler, the Urus’ updated tailgate delivers 35 percent more downforce.

Fully electric version

The Urus is not the first and certainly not the last Lamborghini to undergo the electric treatment. The brand wants to create a fully electrified version from this year by offering the Hurácan’s successor an electric hybrid. Lamborghini will launch its first electric car in 2028 with the Lanzador. An electric successor to the Urus follows a year later.
