Charge and reload!
Electric transportation is rapidly being adopted by car manufacturers. Chinese Maxus also likes electric workhorses and an open loading platform and shows the GST: an electric pick-up with a range of no less than 1,000 km.
Electric transportation seems to be gaining momentum. Ford has the F-150 Electric that can’t be towed in its US homeland, Chevrolet is launching an electric Silverado, Ram is selling an electric 1500 REV and Tesla has had a Cybertruck for years. During Auto China, China’s Maxus showed off the GST, a preview of an electric pick-up that wants to enter the EV battle.
The Maxus GST is still a research model, so you have to think about things like awkwardly opening rear doors and extra eye-lights. The Maxus GST has four electric motors with a total power of 1,014 horsepower and therefore should be able to pull from standstill to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds. The GST should be able to reach about 1,000 km on a full battery, although that is a range that is predicted following the Chinese CLTC cycle. The concept car can turn in place on its axis as if it were a tracked vehicle, has a suspension travel of 40 centimeters and a dashboard with a display over almost the entire width.
Maxus GST: recharge and recharge!
An amazing feature of the pick-up is the fact that you can open the back of the cab to increase the load space. You may know a similar concept from cars like Chevrolet Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT, GMC Envoy XUV and Hummer H2 SUT. If and when Maxus will release a public version is still unknown.
