More power (65 HP) and work, attractive price


Dacia Spring will receive a variant with a more powerful engine: 65 HP, as well as the V2L function, which allows you to turn on external household appliances. However, the general idea according to which Dacia Spring was created is still the same, today is the PREMIERE of this car.

The recipe according to which the Dacia Spring was created is very simple: it is to be an electric car that is cheap, light, light and resistant to the rigors of daily use in the city, and whose price is very attractive compared to the competition. The first generation car was launched in 2021, and a year later it received an update. The second generation of Dacia Spring, prepared for 2024, is to follow the same idea, although some changes have been made that basically improve the performance of this car.

Dacia Spring 2024 – more powerful engine 65 HP, range of more than 220 km

The design hasn’t changed much. Dacia Spring 2024 is based on the same platform (the car is slightly shorter: 3.7 instead of 3.73 m) and uses the same 26.8 kWh battery. Two electric motors are available: 33 kW (45 HP) or 48 kW (65 HP). The second, more powerful appeared in the release in 2023 in the “Extreme” version of the previous Spring generation.

Frequency? More than 220 km, regardless of version, although we will know detailed data soon, because Dacia Spring 2024 has not yet gone through the homologation process. The same applies to energy consumption, which is estimated at 14.6 kWh/100 km. These values ​​are carefully set, because for the expiring model the WLTP is 230 km (combined cycle) and the energy consumption is 11.9 kWh / 100 km. However, there is no reason why the new model should be worse than its predecessor, especially since they are the same balance units with permanent magnets.

Performance? The 0-100 km/h time is certainly not impressive, because the Dacia Spring 65 HP accelerates in “less than 14 seconds”, and the 45 HP version does it “easily” in less than 20 seconds, this is a typical sprint of the city, up to, say, 60 km / h and this is at an average level, even more clearly a combustion city car, especially with a manual gearbox.

What is the battery? 26.8 kWh

Why is the battery still “only” 26.8 kWh? The priority is, of course, to keep the price of the car low, but this is also due to the consumption figures. Drivers of the current Spring model do not drive more than 37 kilometers per day, which is in line with the EU average for city cars. A larger “battery” would increase the weight of the car, which would increase energy consumption, and the Spring should be cheaper to use.

Statistics also show that 75% of users spring charge at home. Therefore, the possibility of fast charging with direct current (DC) is not as important as it is for larger and more powerful electric vehicles. However, such an option is available: you can charge with a power of up to 30 kW, which translates into a charge from 20 to 80% in 45 minutes. These are not world-class values ​​at all, but they are enough to charge the battery to a level sufficient to get home for just a few minutes.

The on-board charger still has a power of 7 kW and allows you to charge the battery from 20 to 100% in less than 7 hours.

It should also be noted that the battery is air cooled (as before). There is also no way to start a fire.

V2L (Loading Vehicle), grill powered by Dacia Spring

Dacia Spring 2024 has a V2L function, which allows you to use the energy stored in the battery to power an external device. After plugging the necessary adapter into the Type 2 socket on the front of the Spring, you can power almost any device using 220/230V, eg Grill, kettle, water pump, drill, etc. Output power is ~3.5 kW.

Of course, you must be aware that the battery on board has a small capacity (previously mentioned 26.8 kWh), which means that such a 10-hour burn can exhaust us Æ battery.

The interior dimensions of the new Dacia Spring are the same as its predecessor. Four people of my height (1.84 m) can sit in the cabin, because I could still fit “behind me” (although my knees were already in contact with the front seat), as I had enough space above my head, also in back (2-3 cm). The trunk has a volume of 308 liters.

The quality of finishing the interior is, of course, typical for a car in this segment: it is very hard, although it must be understood that it is also solid. This also applies to the door panels, where there is nothing smooth, but nothing that can be subjected to pressure / pull.

The steering wheel, in fact, is made of plastic and is very hard, although the touch is not as bad as it might seem. This is standard in this section. The steering itself can be adjusted in length (but not in the length of the column) and I was able to take a good position.

It is worth paying attention to the large number of storage rooms inside the Spring, as well as clever solutions that enable the installation of, for example, lights or hooks, according to the needs of the user.

The optional 10-inch center screen is powered by Android Automotive and its overlays and the most important set of functions. The system works quickly and is easy to use, and the system was not difficult to install.

Optionally, a cover will be available that creates a compartment under the hood, eg for cables

Security systems? Of course, only a necessary set. There will also be ISA, i.e. speed warning.

Cena? What?

Dacia announces that the new Spring “will still be sold at an affordable price”, but unfortunately the price has not yet been announced. However, the same price as the current model should be expected: from approximately PLN 105,000. back,. The cars are scheduled to hit the roads within the next few months.
