Luxury EV Manufacturer Secures Automotive Telematics IP and Cloud Services to Align with Local Resources and Increase Focus on Software-Defined Vehicles

IRVINE, Calif., February 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Karma Automotive, a Southern California the manufacturer of the most luxurious cars, has acquired the technology property and IP of Seattle, Wash., -basic Airbiquity. Karma has also hired key technical staff and taken on key OEM contracts for the software company.

The acquisition gives Karma Airbiquity’s software product portfolio that has evolved over two decades to provide connected car solutions covering over-the-air (OTA) updates, software development tools, data management and analytics.

“We are wrapping Airbiquity’s software in Cloud Services and embedded vehicle technology to create a new platform that is greater than the sum of its parts,” Karma’s President says. Marques McCammon. “Their commercial software meets the needs of the transportation industry’s diverse customer base.”

“Airbiquity has mitigated system challenges that we would not have focused on when designing our own vehicles. Their team and software have been deployed in over 60 countries in passenger cars and motorcycles and have served the largest OEMs in those industries. Their mature design will help coordinate our automotive strategies program-defined and continuously connected.”

The Karma-Airbiquity activity is over today. Employees who will switch to the program will immediately begin integrating solutions from the two companies.

Karma recently introduced its rebranded range of vehicles that range from a hybrid (Revero) to a super coupe EV (Kaveya) featuring an all-wheel drive version that goes 0-60 in less than three seconds.

Terms of the agreement are subject to closing conditions and financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
