Price comparison: The 40 grand Lexus LBX looks expensive, but that’s all it costs.

For a compact hybrid SUV with the luxury level of the Lexus LBX, you can also go for Honda, Hyundai and Renault. But you always pay about 40 grand one way or another.

Lexus LBX

For this price comparison we rely on the opinion of our colleague Gert Wegman. To him Lexus LBX review he especially likes the Blue Luxury version with white synthetic cream leather (so no fabric upholstery). We take that version as a starting point and demand comparable trim from its competitors.

Lexus also supplies all four climate control with heated front seats, large 18-inch wheels and adaptive cruise control, so that doesn’t seem too much to ask in the compact segment. But as you can see below, with other car brands you are always paying about 40 grand one way or another.

Most expensive: Honda HR-V

Honda and Lexus are on the same page and offer their cars heated seats, cruise control and 18-inch wheels. But in the basic version of Honda HR-V (Euro 38,540) you sit on fabric upholstery – for synthetic leather you need Advance. Honda has only one attractive color and that is red. The extra cost of 810 euros makes it 1,500 euros more expensive than the Lexus.

Most expensive: Hyundai Kona Hybrid

Hybrid price list Hyundai Kona it starts at 34,995 euros, but the equipment is still not at the Lexus level. Comfort Smart at 37,495 euros comes very close, but just like with Honda, the (fake) leather upholstery means we have to add one more version. Then you still pay 41 grand, but you drive a bigger car.

A hint

Cheap: Renault Captur

You can get one for around 37 grand Renault Captur which meets our needs, but then we saw a picture of light gray cowhide on the price list and that was it. Then you will be presented with the Iconic edition quote, which costs 38,690 euros, with additional levels of blue color, light leather and cruise control.
