Jeep Avenger Electric, what I like and what I don’t | My test

Avenger is a B-SUV, ie a Small SUV with high wheels, and it is among the most purchased models in early 2024. What is so special about this small Jeep? Is it really the best choice for those who want to enter the electric world with a comfortable and compact car? Let’s see what I liked and what I didn’t like about the Jeep Avenger.

What I like

Avenger has succeeded brilliantly, and even if it remains a personal reason, it is impossible the presence of the electric motor did not disturb the linesto maintain standard Jeep design with only minor changes here and there for a modern touch. The the interior is spaciousthere is plenty of storage space, from the long front support that follows the entire dashboard to the large, deep cockpit compartments in the central canyon, which take advantage of the absence of transmission.

The raised driving position, an example of the segment, is respected and allows you to travel in comfort, getting in and out of the car without any problems. In short, the Avenger is a great car to drive. There the ride is well maintainedThanks also to the high tires, potholes and bumps are not scary. Obviously the driving dynamics are not that of a sports car, but even that of a small car, it is somewhere in between.

The Avenger probably wants to be an inexpensive, simple car, as shown by the images of the digital dashboard or infotainment, as well as the placement of gear lever controls, and big clear keys that leave no doubt. The driving mode selector is convenient, available between Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow and Sand off-road modes, located on the right side of the driver’s seat.

Two other infotainment control buttons are arranged below the long screen, centered on the dashboard, one to activate the ADAS screen and the other to return to Home. CarPlay and Android auto are wireless, ensuring a quick and easy experience. Lane keeping is enabled at the push of a button, as are cruise control and cruise control, and operation is very clear. Good steering wheelsmall, with a thick grip, as well as steering wheel control, simple buttons that provide fast clicks. The rear camera is simplewhich includes a view from above.

Electric suction is the basis, and the motor is capable of making it equal to 156 horses, and low performance. Top speed is 150 km/h and 0-100 in 9 seconds. Not the usual numbers for an electric car that the market is used to, but I can’t put them among the things I don’t like, because Avenger was not born to runbut be comfortable in all situations.

What I don’t like

Retaliation costs, at a price, 39.500 eurosbut it will almost always be possible buy it for around 35 thousand euros approximately, considering the possibility of reaching the minimum incentive level. In any case we are talking about one a non-negligible figure. My list of things I don’t like is related to cost, because for example, the same car but with motorization gasoline starts from 23,300 euroscompletely different prices.

The interior is made entirely of plastic and, apart from the gray insert on the dashboard and a more premium look, the rest indicates a lack of attention to detail, or rather, details which is a little at a list price of around 20 thousand euros, but not a little in electric motorization double the price.

There is not a single pedal car, and the brake reset, with less force, is activated in “B” mode, like the one in normal cars with automatic transmission. L’The actual freedom is about 300 kmconsidering that Jeep is talking about 400 km, but if you can reach 350 km in slow motion, you will probably never drop it below the 300 km threshold before running to find a charging station.

The simplicity of the infotainment comes at the cost of a complete lack of customization and, all things considered, a dated and limited graphics look. Just look, for example, battery charge indicator, which shows the values 0, 1/2 and 1, almost those of the gasoline version. What I am saying is that the electronic version it does not seem to be the subject of much careful investigationand Jeep probably focused on the latter versions and then created an electric version with as little effort as possible.

The right hand support is too far back, for long trips there is no better support for arms. There Seat adjustment is manual (there is no option to make them electric) and the direction that allows you to provide a little more support for the front part of the thigh is not there.

Who should buy?

Jeep Avenger It is the B-SUV that I would buybut not in the electronic version, with one exception incentives that can bring at a price of around 27-28 thousand euros. The hybrid version, adding all the most important optional packages, costs money 29,000 euros (starting price for which it is possible to ask for a discount / incentive), while the full optional gasoline version costs around 27 thousand euros in the list price, also in this case it is a starting price that you can probably reduce something.

A At these prices, the Avenger isn’t bad at all, but about 10 thousand euros more than the electric version is difficult to justify. Imagine that Tesla Model Y there is pstarting at a price of only 3 thousand euros moreand although it is a car from a different place (and longer), it represents one slightly higher price which offers a completely different driving experience.

Considering price aside, with whom he quarrels Lightning Revenge? Certainly with them other recommendations from the Stellantis group (Fiat 600e, Alfa Romeo Junior and Peugeot E-2008), with Smart #1 and Honda e:Ny1. There is no direct rival in the Volkswagen group, while looking at the Koreans it is impossible not to mention Hyundai Electric Corner which has a very similar price.

In short, Avenger is not bad, but it makes sense to consider the electric version only for those who can come in al available scope of incentives.
