Fiat Chrysler is recalling 1.33 million vehicles

Major recall at Fiat Chrysler. In total, around 1.33 million vehicles must be returned to dealers. In some models a fire may occur and in others the airbag may suddenly go off.

The last problem concerns 777,000 SUVs, divided into 538,000 copies of the Dodge Journey (2011 – 2015) and 233,000 copies of the Fiat Freemont (2011 – 2015, not delivered in the Netherlands). Five people were injured in multiple airbag incidents. Because some wires in the steering wheel of the Safari and Freemont can rub against something, they can cause a short circuit, causing the driver’s airbag to inflate.

Fire hazard

Fiat Chrysler is also recalling another 565,000 vehicles due to fires. There have been two incidents in which no injuries were reported. Note this applies to Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger (all 2011 – 2014), Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee (2012 – 2014).

A little injured

A similar problem hit some Fiat Chrysler models last year. In total, nearly 86,000 RAM trucks were to be inspected in October (model years 2007 – 2013) as well as Dodge Charger police variants (model years 2011 – 2014). According to Fiat Chrysler, someone suffered minor injuries last year when their car caught fire.
