The Colisée Denis Morel in La Tuque will host 12 teams in the Junior AA men’s division as part of the Chevrolet Cup.

This event will be presented from April 18 to 21 when Mauricie will host teams from different categories of this regional ice hockey championship. The organizers estimate that around 400 people from the four corners of the region will be in La Tuque during this weekend, an event that will bring great economic benefits to the area. 23 matches will be played on the ice of the Municipal Colisée from Thursday 11 am to Sunday afternoon.

No Latuquoise team will be on the ice, but spectators will be able to follow the performances of Olivier Quessy. The 21-year-old Latuquois defender will wear the colors of the Mauricie representatives.

The grand final is scheduled for Sunday April 21 at 5 p.m.

This is the fourth time that the Municipal Coliseum has hosted such events. In 1984, the Daoust Cup allowed the transmission of junior level matches while, 14 years later, Loups Midget won the Chrysler Cup by defeating Abitibi 2 to 1. Then, in 2011 the Dodge Cup also allowed the transmission of matches at La Tuque. Coliseum Municipality.

We are working hard to finalize the accommodation offer to ensure that all these hockey players can find a place to stay and people who want to give time as volunteers are welcome. Profits from the tournament can be used for minor hockey in La Tuque.

“This competition will enable our young people to witness high quality hockey and finally be able to aspire to this level of competition. I also take this opportunity to sincerely thank our sponsors and I invite people to attend the games in large numbers, because the profits from the event will go 100% to the hockey association of La Tuque.” Anthony Quessy, president of Minor Hockey.

“Being in my fourth experience in the committee to organize this state championship, I see that success depends, among other things, on the participation of valuable volunteers. Therefore, I would like to thank the committee members who have been involved for 2 months already. I would also like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all Latuquois who would like to give their time, even if only for a few hours, to send in their applications. We still have a few spots to fill for security, communications, 50/50 sales and tickets. adds Alain Baribeault, organizer of the organizing committee.

“We are very happy to host this important hockey tournament in La Tuque. This is a great opportunity to introduce our city to many families from all over Quebec. This represents a significant economic benefit for our businesses. We will be ready to welcome you warmly. Bravo to the organizers, thank you to the volunteers who will make this tournament a success and good luck to all participating teams,” adds Luc Martel, mayor of La Tuque.
