2025 BMW M5 Touring Confirmed in Canada | Car news

BMW will offer the 2025 M5 Touring in Canada. This is the first time that a performance car version will be sold here.

We knew that BMW was introducing a new seventh-generation M5 sedan this year and that it would be accompanied by a Touring version, the first since 2007 worldwide. But we didn’t know if the latter would be released in our market, which has been short of family cars for several years.

BMW says it made the decision to introduce the wagon version in Canada due to a strong response to an online public survey launched earlier this year. More than 7,200 respondents said they wanted the Touring version.

Overall, the 5 Series is in its eighth generation, starting in 2024 with the 530 xDrive, while the 550 xDrive hybrid model and the all-electric BMW i5 xDrive40 from 2025 will arrive a little later.

BMW has yet to release full details on the M5 Touring, but it has confirmed that it will feature a hybrid powertrain, “closely related” to the system that powers BMW’s M Hybrid V8 GTP race car. This powertrain uses a 671-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 along with an electric motor.

BMW also promised “more innovation for a greater performance experience.”

The automaker says it has begun testing the new M5 Touring jet in Germany and the United States. Production is expected to begin at the end of 2024. There is still no official information about the price of the model.
