Kia has revealed the name of its next flagship: the Kia Tasman. Inspired by the wild beauty and spirit of Tasmania, an island in southern Australia, the name evokes adventure and discovery.

The Kia Tasman represents the brand’s first foray into the global C-segment pickup market.

Kia plans to introduce its first model in 2025, implementing a phased global launch strategy that includes markets such as Korea, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. This strategic approach aims to meet the needs and preferences of each region, taking into account factors such as the strong demand for trucks in Australia, Korea’s increasing interest in overseas operations, and the need for vehicles for each region in Africa and the Middle East in the regions various, including the desert.

The Tasman name was originally proposed by Kia Australia. It was ultimately chosen for its connection to Tasmania, known as the “Island of Inspiration”. Offering a unique blend of wilderness and cultural richness, the island’s spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife contribute to a sense of wonder and communion with nature that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The name embodies this spirit of adventure, reflecting the nature and rugged potential of Kia’s next flagship.

To highlight the connection, Kia has released a video featuring a blacksmith drawn from the stunning Tasmanian landscape to create the Kia Tasman logo.

Kia first confirmed its entry into the Australian light vehicle (LCV) market last March, airing a TV commercial in which 20 of the world’s most famous sportsmen debated what the SUV should be called. Kia collects inquiries through the Kia website Kia Australia allowing people to be informed until the launch of the car.
