Insurance declares Fisker Ocean a total loss after a simple dent

Thanks to deep discounts, the Fisker Ocean can now be purchased for very little money. The question is whether it is a wise purchase. It turns out that even a small dent can cause your Sea to be declared a total loss.

There is dirt going on at Fisker. Financial problems forced the brand to lay off workers and close the factory. It also emerged that the startup accidentally gave away its electric cars for free.

An angry Fisker Ocean customer shares his story

The bad news shows don’t end there. In the United States, the Fisker Marine was declared a total loss by insurance due to a simple dent, resulting in an angry customer. He shared his story with the website Carscoops.

After someone damaged the open car door of American Joy Wanner, she went to her insurance. After all, the dent in the door panel and the broken hinge had to be repaired. Usually a simple task, but it turned out to be completely different.

Fisker Ocean declared a total loss after minor damage

The repair company estimated the repair costs to be around 850 euros, even though the Ocean was an unfamiliar car to them. That can still affect the price. However, the biggest problem turned out to be getting spare parts. According to Wanner, these could not be found anywhere, so his insurer felt compelled to declare the EV a total loss.

For Joy Wanner, who waited two years for her car, this was the last straw. He is angry after the accumulation of problems. In the Fisker Ocean Facebook group, he lists several disappointments: “Delivery delays, poor documentation, annoying warning lights and sounds, unreliable navigation system and cheap key.” Now he is done with it. “I hope Henrik Fisker loses every penny he has and I wish the rest of them the best.”

Distribution of parts for new car brands

In Europe, every manufacturer, including Fisker, is obliged to supply spare parts for at least ten years after leaving the market. In the event of bankruptcy (which Fisker now appears to be struggling with), this obligation does not apply and you as a consumer remain with the same consequences. Or in this case: total loss announced the Sea of Fikser.

The economical and luxurious used Fisker Karma is cheaper than you think
