Engines of Victory: Chevrolet in 2024 NHRA Nationals Four

As the engines roar, zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina, prepares for the high-octane drama of the NHRA 2024 Four Wide Nationals on April 26-28. This weekend, Team Chevy isn’t just participating; are the defending champions, buoyed by echoes of last year’s double and driven by a legacy of momentum.

Austin Prock, behind the wheel of the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, returns as last year’s top performer. Reflecting on his early success, Prock is optimistic about the challenge ahead: “I think everyone will be a little bit better going into the Four-Wide, especially on the starting line just because they got all their bearings along the way (last week in Las Vegas). In the The first (Four-Wide) of the season, everyone seems to be struggling a little more. But this race car I’m driving has had a lot of success there, so I’m looking forward to it in the spring last year, my Top Fuel dragster and this Funny Car teamed up right here. Maybe we could double with Brittany (Force) this year.”

Brittany Force, driving a Monster Energy Chevrolet Top Fuel Dragster, enters the race with a high record and high hopes: “Our team is looking forward to Charlotte, the Second Four of the season. We have had success in the past at zMAX (Dragway), and we would like to get our first win of the season. As a two-time champion and record holder, Brittany’s goal is not just to compete, but to dominate, continuing her pursuit of a third championship with a machine built to break boundaries.

John Force, a former PeAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car veteran, brings a wealth of experience and a record four wins to this event. Force’s passion for the format is evident: “Bruton Smith created the Four-Wides in Charlotte and Vegas, and it has generated a lot of excitement with fans. It is difficult for crew chiefs and drivers. There’s a lot going on when you’re talking about each way having over 10,000 horsepower. That’s 40,000 horsepower, and I think that’s more than the entire NASCAR field, but I love it.”

As teams prepare, anticipation builds. With a major partnership announcement on the horizon, the stakes are as high as horse power. As Prock reflects on his meteoric rise and the journey ahead, his perspective is clear: “It hasn’t hit me yet. I’m living a fairy tale right now. I think it’s a good thing it hasn’t happened to me. I think we just need to keep our heads down and stay focused and keep doing what we’re doing because it’s been working. So don’t get too high, too low, but we have to celebrate the year we’ve had.”

As the 2024 NHRA Four Nationals approaches, the stage is set for a weekend of intense competition and potentially historic performances. With Team Chevy’s stars lined up, all that’s left is for the lights to go out and the race to begin. The engines are ready – are they?
