A 73-year-old man from Munich caused a fatal accident on the A9. The result: several people injured by a debris field on the highway.

Munich – A fatal traffic accident took place on the Autobahn 9 in Upper Bavaria on Friday evening. The police and the Erding integrated control center received several calls around 9:30 pm

A 73-year-old man from Munich was driving his car on the A9 towards Nuremberg. For reasons still unknown, near the Echinger-Gfild parking lot in the municipality of Eching, he collided with a BMW driven by two people from the district of Freising. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely destroyed.

The 41-year-old driver and his 19-year-old passenger were trapped in their car until emergency services arrived and had to be freed using mechanical devices. Both were injured, the driver very badly, and taken to hospitals in Munich.

A 20-year-old can’t get out of the way – cars drive into a 150-metre field of rubble.

The 20-year-old driver, who was behind those involved in the accident, was only able to get out of the way, but collided with the right rail and suffered minor injuries. After the accident, several cars passed through the area of ​​dirt spread for about 150 meters and caused more damage to the cars.

Large operations with rescue helicopters and several fire departments – the A9 is closed for a long time

Due to the confusing situation and various previous reports, many rescue workers were alerted, including fire departments from Neufahrn b. Freising, Eching, Dietersheim and Garching, the fire inspection of the Freising district, the various emergency services, the rescue helicopter, a technical consultant from THW and the Munich-Nord road maintenance department.

Four patrols from the Freising traffic police were on site. Material damage is estimated at around 55,000 euros. After being completely closed for about two hours, the road was reopened to traffic.
