According to CEO Duesmann, the Audi A3 is getting a next generation

And what about the A3? Indeed, CEO Markus Duesmann says the compact car has a future in the Ingolstadt range, where it will serve as an entry-level model once the A1 and Q2 placed.

“If it’s the entry level, then the A3 or its successor will probably be the entry level. So yes, I can promise that from the A3 segment onwards we will have a range. [von Fahrzeugen] will give.”

The last part of his statement indicates that there will be more than just one style. It is unclear if he was referring to the Sportback and the sedan and/or either body style along with the Q3.

There will definitely be a crossover in this segment, because the recently introduced Cupra Terramar it will be built in the same factory in Györ (Hungary) as the technically related next-generation Q3. Perhaps to create the potential of this, there are rumors that the production of the built also in Hungary. TT scheduled for completion in March 2023.

The Audi boss has not commented on the direction the A3 will take, but our logic tells us that it will be offered as an electric car only. The brand has already announced that its last new car with a combustion engine will be launched in 2025. The current fourth generation A3 appeared in May 2020 and will therefore live until around 2026/2027. At that time, all new Audi launches will be purely electric.

Mercedes will keep its number compact cars reduced from seven to four, while a recent report suggests that some of BMW’s small nitro cars are at risk. The first three Germans seem to be starting to focus on larger cars while selling in smaller numbers but making higher profits.

Back to A3: spy photos have indicated that a higher-end entry is on the way, which may carry the Allstreet suffix to match the it was recently given the more rustic name A1 to remember A mid-cycle facelift is expected in 2024 and should also include the mighty S3 and RS 3. Needless to say, the inline five is on its deathbed, so you might want to hurry.
