Actual cost and utility: Genesis GV70 2.2 D Sport

In the book of Genesis they see deconstructivism with frustration. They took the rotary-push control from Munich because it allows the infotainment to be controlled from the hand. Air conditioning is not included; it needs to be adjusted in the GV70 via a separate touch screen. At least the relevant fields are within direct reach. At least the infotainment can also be controlled with both thumbs on the steering wheel – via capable surfaces that don’t always respond automatically. And what about fuel and operating costs?

Our test application

The beginning available for GV70 2.2 D Sport typical WLTP consumption of 7.3 liters of diesel. He departs from this value in everyday life; We determined an average consumption of 8.1 liters, which results in a fuel cost of 14.09 euros per 100 km. The Genesis consumed 6.2 liters on the eco route, while it consumed 8.0 liters on the passenger route. If Genesis was driven in sports mode, consumption increased to 10.7 liters. Fuel costs are calculated based on the current daily fuel price on our partner website (12.02.2024 / Diesel: 1,74 Euro/Litre).

Achim Hartmann

Test consumption consists of 70% from the passenger cycle and 15% each from Eco and Sport.

Monthly maintenance costs

Car tax for Genesis costs 465 euros per year, liability insurance is 500 euros. Partial and comprehensive insurance costs an additional 245 and 1,226 euros respectively. Monthly maintenance costs of 338 euros are paid by anyone who drives the Genesis 15,000 kilometers a year. If the mileage is doubled, the total increases to 582 euros. This is how testing is done

The automotive and sports test uses consist of three usage trips with different weights. The so-called “passenger use” accounts for 70 percent. This is a journey from home to work that is on average 21 kilometers long. The economy driven period, approximately 275 kilometers long is counted as 15 percent. The remaining 15 percent goes to the driver group of sports. The length is roughly the same as the Eco route, but the route includes a larger section of road and therefore a higher average speed. The basis for calculating fuel costs is always the price quoted on the “more fuel” website on the day the article was created.

Monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear parts and vehicle taxes based on an assumed annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers without depreciation. The basis of the calculation is trial use, three-year holding period, no-claims class SF12 for liability and comprehensive insurance for Allianz, including discounts for garage parking and restrictions for certain drivers (not under 21 years). At Allianz, SF12 means a 34 percent discount for liability and 28 percent for comprehensive insurance.

In car and sports test use, the 56,780 euro Genesis GV70 2.2 D Sport with 201 hp ended up with an average value of 8.1 liters of diesel per 100 km. The cost of fuel for this distance is 14.09 euros. Monthly maintenance costs are 338 euros (15,000 km per year) or 582 euros (30,000 km per year).
