Irmscher wants to turn it into a racing machine!

The Irmscher company is launching a very stylish version of the Opel Astra. This could be a reality even one day…

The Opel Astra is no longer available in a sports version since the disappearance of the OPC unit. It was the former sports department of the German brand. But the producers are trying to correct this injustice.
In addition to offering a range of improvements to the entire Astra range, Irmscher has launched a research model called Astra IRC. This opts for a very aggressive look inspired by motorsport. The company claims that the Opel Astra IRC takes inspiration from the World Rally Championship.

Track the girl to this Astra

The most important thing is obviously about the front and rear defenders. These are wider than on the regular Astra and have new air intakes. Alternatively, there are also new 20-inch “Hydra Star” alloy wheels.
Up front, the Astra benefits from a redesigned shield with larger air intakes and a generously sized blade. This sporty style is also found in the rear of this Opel Astra like no other.
A large diffuser connects the two exhausts with a third brake light. However, the most notable feature is the rear damage it sets. This is mounted on swan neck braces.
Maybe a bit too much for a compact of this type, but it will certainly appeal to some customers. Irmscher did not mention any chassis improvements, but it is clear that this Opel Astra IRC relies on lowered springs and widened tracks. In any case, it is currently only a digital model. But it could be a reality one day.

More power?

When it comes to power, the company aims for a power mark of 260 horsepower. This of course makes us think about the facelifted Volkswagen Golf GTI. But there’s no need to worry about super sports compacts like the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the Audi RS3. Not even the “inferior” versions like the A35 and S3.
The announced power means that such a version would be based on the Opel Astra GSe, the current flagship of the range. This sporty version of the Opel compact is equipped with a hybrid powertrain. This has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine along with an electric motor. The combined output provides 225 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque.
A few modifications to the heat engine could allow Irmscher to achieve the desired power. Still, with extreme exterior looks, this Astra makes us want more horsepower.

At least we would have preferred the Opel Grandland GSe GMP. This offers a whopping 300 horsepower but is not available on the Astra range. The Remshalden tuner presented the Opel Astra IRC in digital form. But be sure that if a few customers show interest, the tuner will start the event.
