Jeep turns 180 degrees and brings the Avenger with a petrol engine to the Netherlands

If you are high jeep.nl If you are putting together a Jeep Avenger, you can now choose a petrol engine. It is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder with a turbo that produces 100 hp and 205 Nm. This makes the petrol Avenger less powerful than its electric sibling (156 hp and 260 Nm).

The original plan has been changed

Jeep’s original plan was to introduce the Avenger as an EV only in most markets. Only in Italy and Spain can customers order the petrol version of the compact SUV due to poor charging infrastructure.

More countries were added soon, including Germany, France, Belgium, Poland and the United Kingdom. According to CEO Eric Laforge, Jeep did so because the gasoline-powered Avenger can be sold at a lower price and is therefore more attractive to customers than the electric version.

Big difference

The price difference in our neighboring countries is therefore large. For example, German Avenger customers who choose a petrol engine pay 10,000 euros less than for an electric Avenger (27,000 euros vs. 37,000 for the EV). This difference is even greater among our southern neighbors; In Belgium you can buy a petrol Avenger for 27,000 euros and an electric version for 38,500 euros.

The Dutch price difference is disappointing

Bad news for Dutch people who want to immediately order an Avenger with a petrol engine after reading this message: in the Netherlands the price difference is not nearly as much as in other countries. Partly due to BPM, the Dutch price of the petrol version of the Avenger is higher than in Belgium and Germany: 33,850 euros. Because the electric Avenger costs 36,550 euros after deducting the subsidy of 2,950 euros, the difference is ‘only’ 2,700 euros.

However, it must be noted that the petrol version is only available (yet) in the Altitude version. For Avenger Full Electric, this is the third equipment level and therefore costs 3 additional customers. However, the price difference of 5,700 euros still does not reach the situation in Germany or Belgium.
