The No. 25 BMW M8 GTE of Connor de Phillippi, Bruno Spengler and Augusto Farfus, with Tom Blomqvist at the wheel, recorded the quickest time of 1:48.534, edging out the No. 77 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis, Tristan Nunez and Olivier Pla by 0.009 seconds.
The No. 24 BMW, piloted by Colton Herta, John Edwards and Jesse Krohn, was third 0.013 seconds off the pace.
The No. 17 Acura Team Penske ARX-05 of Dane Cameron, Juan Pablo Montoya and Simon Pagenaud was fourth, with the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R of Renger van der Zande, Ryan Briscoe and Scott Dixon fifth.
The No. 5 Cadillac of Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Filipe Albuquerque completed the top six.
The two-hour practice session saw several red flags, for the No. 4 Corvette C8.R of Marcel Fassler, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, and for a spin by the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth, Aaron Telitz and Harold Primat.
The No. 8 Tower Motorsports by Starworks Oreca 07 Gibson of Ryan Dalziel, Parker Chase and Scott Andrews also stopped on track, while the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac of Pipo Derani, Felipe Nasr and Mike Conway was one of several cars to have a spin.

In the wheel of the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE, Blomqvist, along with Connor de Phillippi, Bruno Spengler and Augusto Farfus, clocked the fastest time of 1:48.534, marginally edging out the No. 77 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis, Tristan Nunez and Olivier Pla by 0.009 seconds.
The No. 24 BMW, driven by Colton Herta, John Edwards and Jesse Krohn, had the third fastest time, lagging 0.013 seconds behind the leader.
