Bmw R 18 Roctane, a great boxer between classic and modern

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The new Roctane R 18 combines the most advanced motorcycle technology with the design and charm of the past. The flat-twin (2-cylinder), ‘big boxer’ engine, in Avus black metallic matt and with high-gloss black covers, recalls traditional air-cooled boxer engines boasting a displacement of 1,802 cc. and produces an output of 67 kW (91 hp) at 4,750 rpm. The two-part tubular steel frame demonstrates the highest build quality and attention to detail is evident even in the most subtle details, such as the welded joints between the steel tubes and the cast or forged parts. The rear swingarm, made to the same design, incorporates a driveshaft of the same style, using bolted connections.

The suspension components of the BMW R 18 Roctane were designed to have no electronic control function. Instead a mechanical system was chosen, with telescopic forks and a suspension system mounted directly on the swingarm with continuous damping and adjustable spring preload to ensure optimal wheel control and responsive suspension comfort. As in the legendary BMW R 5, the telescopic fork legs are attached to the fork cover. The diameter of the fork legs is 49 mm, suspension travel is 120 mm at the front and 90 mm at the rear. The new BMW R 18 Roctane is stopped by dual disc brakes at the front and single disc brake at the rear along with four-piston fixed calipers. To meet the needs of individual customers, the new R 18 Roctane is equipped as standard with three driving modes ‘Rain’, ‘Roll’ and ‘Rock’ – an unusual feature in this segment. Standard equipment also includes ASC (Automatic Stability Control), which ensures a high level of driving safety. In addition, the new Roctane R 18 is equipped with standard equipment and engine brake torque control. Among other options, reverse assist makes driving smoother and the Hill Start Control feature makes hill starts easier. (ITALPRESS). – BMW press office photo – ads/com 16-May-23 15:58 .
