• The new Optiq sits below the Lyriq as Cadillac’s new entry-level electric SUV.
  • Its interior features a large curved display for infotainment and gauges, similar to the Lyriq.
  • The basis of the new model is the same platform as the Chevrolet Equinox EV.

Several new photos of the Cadillac Optiq have surfaced from China, just ahead of the EV’s public debut at the Beijing Auto Show this month. These new photos give us our first look at the Optiq booth.

Like the Cadillac Lyriq, the Optiq’s cabin features a large, curved display that complements the infotainment display and digital gauge cluster. It also has a small air vent that sits between the screen and a row of physical buttons for key climate control settings. The steering wheel and stalks also look similar to those found on the Lyriq.

The similarity continues on the center console where there are two cup holders and a rotating screen dial. Cadillac has changed the design of the center armrest, making it a little smaller. There’s also an open storage compartment under the climate control switches as opposed to the Lyriq’s hidden storage area.

The basis of the Optiq is the same BEV3 platform used for the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Buick Electra. Figures from China show that the SUV is 189.8 inches (4,821 mm) long and has a wheelbase of 116.3 inches (2,954 mm), meaning it is the same size as the XT5 but with 3.8 inches (97 mm) of added length between the axles.

Cadillac will sell the new model in single- and dual-engine configurations. The single-motor versions are expected to produce 201 and 241 hp, while the all-wheel drive version could produce a more impressive 283 hp.

While the automaker is launching the Optiq in China, it will be sold in the US and available later this year. Interior specs and pricing details have not been announced but should be somewhere between the Equinox EV’s $34,995 starting price and the larger Lyriq’s $57,195 MSRP.
