Captain America: New World Order no longer exists as a title, with Anthony Mackie’s first solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe changing its title. Mackie stars in Captain America 4 as Sam Wilson, and the film marks the character’s first appearance on the big screen as Captain America, following his stints as Disney+’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
On Instagram, Mackie shared the first photo of himself with new Thunderbolt actor Ross Ford on the set of the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, which replaces Captain America: New World Order as the title of Sam Wilson’s first solo film.
While sharing the title change for his first MCU solo film, Mackie also revealed a better look at his new Captain America suit, which departs from Sam’s true comic book white suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. instead it resembles Steve Rogers’ stealth suit in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
While it’s unclear what led Marvel Studios to decide to drop the original Captain America: New World Order title for Sam Wilson’s next film, it may have been due to real-world connections. There is actually a conspiracy theory that a totalitarian regime will secretly emerge to take over the world. As absurd as the idea is, it’s probably best for Marvel to stay away from possible connections to the conspiracy theory.
They are changing the title of the movie to a new one that has a connection to the Captain America comics: Brave New World can be connected to the controversial event of Marvel Comics’ Secret Empire. Secret Empire focuses on Steve Rogers, exposed as a Hydra agent, becomes a fascist leader and controls the entire world. The Red Skull is later revealed to have used a Cosmic Cube sentient vessel called the Kobik to replace Steve with an evil version of himself. One of the Secret Empire comics is Secret Empire: Brave New World, which is the new title of Mackie’s movie.
While there is no indication that Chris Evans will return to the film to play the evil version of Steve Rogers, the new title could be linked to an alleged plot by The Leader, played by Tim Blake Nelson, to take control of the world by creating more Hulks.
