Chevrolet Corvette C8: Launch Edition for Europe

Chevrolet Corvette C8: Launch Edition for Europe

GM is finally bringing the long-awaited Corvette C8 to Europe in October. A very limited Launch Edition will be available at market launch.

In the US, the new mid-engine Corvette has been on the market for some time. European fans have had to starve until now. From October should finally be time – the Corvette C8 also landed in Europe. The first markets in the old world to be released for the new C8 are Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

Only 16 cars are available

First in Europe, GM is launching the inaugural version of the Corvette. However, it is very small. Only eight coupés and eight convertibles are offered in special condition. 16 vehicles can already be reserved via the Chevrolet Europe website.

The Launch Edition features the highest level of equipment, the 3LT. It brings carbon fiber to the spoilers, exterior mirrors, wheels and convertible roof. The interior includes competition seats in the coupé and GT2 seats in convertible with nappa leather covers, as well as seat and steering wheel surfaces with microfiber velor surfaces. Standard equipment on Launch Edition models also includes Magnetic Ride suspension technology. The interior color is coordinated with the exterior painting.

Each model with its own color combination

The launch version of the coupe is available in color combinations Arctic White/Jet Black, Black/Jet Black, Torch Red/Adrenaline Red, Shadow Gray Metallic/Natural, Rapid Blue/Jet Black, Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic/Adrenaline Red, Accelerate Yellow Metallic /Jet Black and Metallic Gray Ceramic/Jet Black available once each.

GM is offering the Launch Edition as a coupe and convertible in eight color combinations each.

The convertible comes in eight color combinations: Red Red/Jet Black, Arctic White/Sky Cool Gray (two-tone), Red Silver Metallic/Adrenaline (two-tone), Zeus Bronze Metallic/Natural (two-tone), Rapid Blue/ Choose from Sky Cool Grey, Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic/Natural, Tactical Red Tintcoat/Sky Cool Gray (two-tone) and Sebring Orange Tintcoat/Jet Black.

Basic standard equipment

Standard equipment for European models generally includes the Z51 and 2LT Performance packages. The Z51 includes suspension with manually adjustable spring plates, Brembo brake system with large diameter discs and front cooling air intakes, electronic slip differential, short final drive ratio, exhaust system performance, an aerodynamics package for reduced lift and greater driving stability, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Compared to the entry-level model in the US market, the 2LT equipment includes additional features such as a performance data recorder, a head-up display and navigation system, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, a windshield behind the camera and heated seats.

In addition, all models of the Launch Edition are available with an optional lifting system on the front axle, which raises the front of the car at low speeds (up to 38 km / h), thereby increasing the ground clearance by 50 millimeters.

Price from 99,000 euros

On the drive side, all Launch Edition models are powered by a 475 hp and 613 Nm 6.2-liter V8 mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. As for driving performance, GM claims 3.5 seconds for the sprint and 296 km/h for the top speed.

Prices for Launch Edition models in Germany start at 99,000 euros for the coupe version. Convertible models start at 106,000 euros.
